I have lived in Eugene since 2008 and it has become my home. My favorite role in my life is motherhood. I have 2 daughters. It was a challenge in the beginning and later affected my mental health as the struggle continued. As a solo parent, due to the cultural norms, solo parents are often not provided proper supports to thrive in parenthood. One way to change this for future mothers was to prepare as a doula who could walk side by side a parent for a portion of their parent journey.
I was fortunate to have vaginal births for both daughters and feel that my recovery after birth went as well as it could. I studied and graduated from OSU with a BA.
This support is especially important for young adults becoming parents. There are few places to go for non-judgmental conversations and support as a young parent. I want them to have an opportunity to ask questions, have a safe space to share their fears around birth, support with planning a life with a child and becoming a confident parent.
Together we can plan for healthy birth with conversations around:
- Mental health supports for postpartum.
- Planning who your birthing postpartum team will be.
- Healthy lifestyle for emotional and physical well being.
- Preparing for a healthy and stress free labor.
- Discussing a postpartum wellness plan for a healing journey after birth.
